Litany of Saints (arr. Rocca, CSC)

R. Pray for us.

Responsorial Psalm

Psalm (23)24, 1-2 .3-4ab .5-6 (Carroll)

R. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

1. The Lord's is the earth and its fullness, the world and all its peoples. It is he who set it on the seas;
on the waters he made it firm. R.

2. Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord? Who shall stand in his holy place?
the man with clean hands and pure heart, who desires not worthless things. R.

3. He shall receive blessings from the Lord and reward from the God who saves him.
Such are the men who seek him, seek he face of the God of Jacob. R.

Preparation of the Altar and Gifts

Justorum animae (Stanford)

Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt, The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
et non tanget illos tormentum malitia
and there shall no torment touch them
Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori,
In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die,
illi autem sunt in pace. but they are in peace.

Communion Antiphon

Psalm 23 (Bower)

R. Come you blest of my Father, and enter into the joy, the joy which is prepared for you.

1. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures, where he gives me repose. Near restful waters he leads me to revive my drooping spirit. R.

2. He guides me along the right path; He is true to His Name. If I should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort.. R.

3. You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes. My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowering. R.

4. Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me, all the days of my life. In the Lord's own house shall I dwell, forever and ever. R.

Communion Chant (mode II)

Beati mundo corde, Blessed are the pure in heart,
quoniam ipsi Deum videbunt:
for they shall see God;
beati pacifici,
blessed are the peacemakers,
quoniam filli Dei vocabuntur: for they shall be called sons of God;
beati qui persecutionem patiuntur blessed are those who suffer persecution
propter iustitiam for the sake of justice,
quoniam ipsorum est for theirs is
regnum caelorum. the kingdom of heaven.

Communion Anthem

And I Saw a New Heaven (Bainton)

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth;
For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying,
Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men,
and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain,
for the former things are passed away.

Concluding Hymn

For All the Saints (Text: William W. How, Tune: Sine Nomine)

1. For all the saints who from their labors rest,
All who by faith before the world confessed,
Your name, O Jesus, be for ever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

2. You were their rock, their fortress and their might;
You, Lord, their Captain in their well-fought fight;
You in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Alleluia!.

3. O may your soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win with them, the victor's crown of gold.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

4. O blest communion, family divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one within your great design.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
